Coffee is grown in many countries around the world but their heritage
originates from the trees in the ancient coffee forests in Ethiopia. Within 100 years of its discovery, coffee established itself as a commodity crop throughout the world.
Regardless of how coffee arrived it is here to stay! Coffee lovers will
quickly admit they can't go without their favorite brew. So how does a new
coffee drinker determine what to try? A good place to start is by roast
type. Once you decide how strong you like your coffee you are off to an
endless number of coffee choices.
Country of Origin - there are subtle differences in the taste of coffee
depending on which part of the world the coffee is exported from. Choosing a
coffee by country of export is a way some coffee lovers choose their coffee
type.
The terminology used by coffee gurus to describe a particular coffee is
extensive and usually doesn't help someone new to coffee drinking. Terms
used to describe coffee include: heavy body, low acidity, richness, spicy,
smoky flavored, slightly sweet, robust, fruity, smooth, earthy, mellow,
nutty...and the list goes on!
